WELCOME TO PENFIELD MONTESSORI ACADEMY
Penfield Montessori Academy (PMA) is a tuition-free public Montessori charter school located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. PMA has been serving children 3 years through 6th grade in the Near West Side neighborhood since 2016. Following the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori we help our students learn and develop in a free form, constructive manner to suit each child’s unique talents and personalities.
PMA was opened in response to a community need in response to the support and services provided by Penfield Children’s Center. In partnership with Penfield Children's Center, PMA is rooted in the Milwaukee community as a leader in child development, a resource for parents and caregivers and an advocate for early intervention services for children with varying abilities.
WHY PMA?
PMA offers all the benefits of a Montessori education - mixed age classrooms, individualized learning plans and learning through doing. What makes PMA different from other Montessori schools is the inclusion of children with and without disabilities within our classrooms, the rich and welcoming community that is provided to parents and caregivers, and our specialized staff including therapists, speech and language specialists and psychologists. At Penfield, our classrooms represent the world we live in, a world that represents many different cultures, abilities and experiences, coming together to learn and grow together.

SMALL CLASS SIZES
Our classrooms have a 8 to 1 ratio allowing for high student teacher interaction.
MIXED ABILITIES
The typically developing child gains valuable skills including understanding of disabilities, the opportunity to teach and mentor peers and a comfort with peers that look or act different than them. Non-typically developing children are able to learn from their peers by observing them, interacting with them and forming friendships.
WELCOMING COMMUNITY
We offer a parent group, staff a full-time family liaison and offer many family events throughout the year that foster community and belonging with all our families. PMA utlizes 5 core values as the foundation for how we serve our children and families. These core values unite our staff, students and families on a mission to always strive to be the best version of ourselves.
